Welcome one, welcome all! To my blog, arielaonthego! Yay! Today I’m sharing with you a few ways to “disconnect” from technology. So, as most of you probably know, I’m a Youth Ambassador for Digitally Lit. I read and review books published in Atlantic Canada, and I come up with creative ways to share my love of books on my social media platforms! Kinda ironic how my job relies on technology to promote it, but this post tells you about how to NOT use technology…
1. Find a Hobby That You 🤍: I love being creative! That means I like art, writing stories, and having fun! Yay! Here are some of my digital art pieces 🙂
The Light Fury from HTTYD This is Falda, one of my lovely half-dragon book characters 😀
2. Stay Active: This can mean soooo many different things! You could play sports, go for a run or for a walk, exercise, and go to the gym, or just playing outside with your friends! It’s very important to stay active, and healthy! And also stay hydrated! I love to swim, and play outside! I’m also training to be a lifeguard one day!
Swimming in Grand Turk
Playing Volleyball at Aquatica (Sea World’s Waterpark)
3. PLAY: Yes, I’m a teenager, yes I play with toys! When I say toys I mean, LEGOS, L.O.L. Surprises, American Girl Dolls, and more! I haven’t lost my imagination, and hopefully I never will!
4. Playing an Instrument: When I was small, I used to play the piano. Now, I play the guitar and the ukulele. I had some guitar lessons from an actual teacher, but when the pandemic hit, I went to YouTube!
5. Visiting theme parks and amusement parks: I LOVE a good roller coaster! My favorite ones would be at Canada’s Wonderland. I’m fortunate that I live in Florida for six months. There are so many amusement parks here in Florida and I’ve been to all of them. Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, Fun Spot, Seaworld, and Disneyworld!
6. Hanging out with Friends: Friends are very important, and it’s good to have a relationship that lasts! Talking to your friends online isn’t gonna cut it, you have to actually DO something with them!

That’s all for today, everyone! I hope you enjoyed this post, and maybe even found it helpful? Let’s chat in the comments 😆

Wonderful post, Ariela! I always enjoy reading your blog posts.
😊 Thank you!
Love this Ariela! And you can play the ukulele? That’s so awesome. I love love music and creativity… and just taking the time, every day, to play! Play is like learning in fun and imaginative ways. Love it!

This is so true! It’s so important to have things outside of tech. I refuse to let it run my life!
Yaaasss!
Great tips on disconnecting 🙂
Solid advice here, young lady! I’ve seen families “gather” and everyone is on their iPhone or Android with NO ONE actually engaged with the other people who are THERE with them!
A quote from one smart cookie: “I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots.” (Albert Einstein)

LOL! Yeah I find that too, instead of texting your friends “wanna hang out?” ENGAGE with the ones right next to you! Wow, Einstein is smarter than I thought…🤔 not just a brilliant scientist!
Einstein, like you, felt it was good to play an instrument. His was the violin. We need to be well-rounded. Cheers, Muriel
Oooooh, yeah, now I’m starting to realize how cool music is 😀
