B2P

Hello everyone, and welcome back to the best travel blog by a 15yr old girl named Ariela. I win. Hehehe. Anyway, since it’s summer and I love summer, I figured that I’d give a nice life update since I’m not posting or travelling as much as I would usually do. So here’s me trying to make up for it.

I hope you all remember Digitally Lit, it’s why I started writing book reviews and why I post about Atlantic Canadian books that are published in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, and New Brunswick. However, Digitally Lit has now changed a little bit! It’s called Our Stories Matter (OSM for short), and it’s mainly focused on Nova Scotian books! So, as a Digitally Lit Our Stories Matter Youth Ambassador, I now read and review Nova Scotian books to promote Nova Scotia and for me (and other people) to learn more about the wonderful province. With my new position as a B2P Correspondent, I will be reading and reviewing Indigenous books!

B2P stands for Bridge to Publishing, and the B2P pilot incorporates Indigenous ways of knowing to help connect young Indigenous Creatives to the publishing sector in Atlantic Canada. It’s all about encouraging and empowering Indigenous youth to get published! B2P will also be hosting workshops for Indigenous youth to attend!

As a B2P Correspondent, I will be reading and reviewing Indigenous books and encouraging diverse ranges of youth across Atlantic Canada to take an interest in, and celebrate Indigenous stories. B2P Correspondents hope to bridge the gap between the Indigenous community and the publishing sector to ensure that Indigenous stories can be told and heard.

I’m very excited to learn about Indigenous culture and immerse myself in their storytelling. I have much respect for the Indigenous community, and I aim to keep an open mind about what I will learn, while respecting the perspectives and worldviews of others. I also hope to reach many youth across Atlantic Canada and prove that each and every one of our stories matter.

Amazing L’Nuk: A Celebration of the People of Mi’kma’ki is my first book with B2P, co-authored by Julie Pelliser-Lush, and Robin Grant, a white, allied settler, and the Strategy Coordinator for Digitally Lit. I’m so excited to get started, and I hope that you can all look forward to this new chapter for Digitally Lit! (I know I’m excited :D)

That’s all I have to say for now, and I might now be posting as much because I do still have two camps left to go to, haha. Bye! <3

  2. Well said Ariela! You do win, haha. We just need to keep feeding that big brain of yours books and books, we’ll let your parents look after the new travel experiences! Anyway, we are so glad to have you on for this part of our journey. You’re a force of good in this world! 🙂 Robin

    1. True, I do want to be fed books. I’m so happy that I get to be a part of B2P! Thank you so much! 😀

    1. Thanks so much! I really hope you decide to check them out so you can learn and grow with me <3

  3. Exciting reading ahead of you! Discovering how others think, even if their beliefs and world-views are different from ours, opens us up to conversations about who God is and how He loves us. We first need to listen to their stories.
    ❤️&🙏,

    1. Thank you! It should be very interesting and educational to learn more about the Indigenous community and hear their stories. I’m really looking forward to learning.
