Fairmont Chateau Laurier

Fairmont Chateau Laurier

Hello everyone! I hope you are having an awesome day today! šŸ¤© Now, have any of you been to Epcot in Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida? If yes, then youā€™ve probably seen the replica of Fairmont Chateau Laurier at the Canada Pavillon! They have a whole bunch of little sections that have themes from different countries. Thereā€™s Japan, Mexico, Norway, Canada, and many others. But enough about Disney! The Chateau Laurier is a French styled castle, and it is a designated National Historic Site of Canada. It was named after Sir Wilfred Laurier, a former Prime Minister of Canada. This hotel was built between 1909 to 1912 and it opened on April 1912. After spending Thanksgiving in Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu for three days, we continued on our road trip to Ottawa, Canadaā€™s capital. The Senate of Canada Building

Lately weā€™ve been staying a lot at Fairmont hotels because my dad has a concierge service with his credit card that books our trips, and Fairmont is one of the featured hotels that gives the members certain āœØbenefits and perksāœØ. So we get our third night free, we get free breakfast which would cost $35 per person, and other upgrades. This time, we had this really big corner king suite on the 9th floor with a big bathroom too! And staying in a historic hotel is nice because it is a window to the past. The picture of The Senate of Canada was taken from our room early in the morning. Itā€™s Canadaā€™s capital so the federal government buildings are here. Due to the pandemic, guided tours were postponed. But thereā€™s many other things to do in Ottawa.

We visited my grandpa again because we wonā€™t be seeing him for a while ā€˜cause we are going to start traveling overseas soon. Yay! We did some shopping again, and then ate out at the restaurants in the city. In the big city there are so many different restaurants and different stores that we donā€™t have back home. OKAY, NOW ONTO MY FAVORITE PART. Do you know what a croffle is? It is realllllly good, itā€™s a French croissant squished down in a waffle maker to give it that fun waffle grid. Then they put on homemade whipped cream, berries, and Belgium milk chocolate drizzle. It is very delicious, the owners told us that they tried it first in Japan so they decided to bring it in Canada. And Iā€™m glad they did because Japan is a long ways away! šŸ˜‹ šŸ˜œ

There are so many beautiful spots to take pictures in Ottawa, especially at the Parliament Hill. Sadly the building is under renovations, which means that there are cranes, scaffolding, and machines which donā€™t make for a very nice picture. If you go for a walk, you will see many statues of important people that made Canada the independent nation it is today! When I was there, I witnessed the changing of the guards with a parade of flags and bag pipes for music at the National War Memorial. Itā€™s also fun to walk at the Byward Market where you can find lots and lots of restaurants and shops.

The picture below is called The Famous Five, ā€œWomen are Persons!ā€ In 1929, five women won the Persons Case. The case led to a court ruling that declared women as persons under the law and made them eligible for appointment to the Senate in Canada. Itā€™s nice that now everyone is equal, and they donā€™t have to fight for stuff like that. Girl Power! šŸ˜

Tea with my friends!

I hope you enjoyed reading about my trip to Ottawa, and that youā€™ll get a chance to visit there someday and stay at the Chateau Laurier. By the way, you can have afternoon tea at the hotel and the hotel has a awesome pool!

Have a nice day, bye! āœŒšŸ½
