Do you love traveling with a friend or you prefer to travel solo? Traveling with friends is amazing. I’m very happy that I got to spend a whole trip with my friend Charlotte. She is one of my very best friends, and we are very crazy!

It’s a two hour drive from our house to the island. Let me just say that the bridge from New Brunswick (NB) to Prince Edward Island (PEI) is very looong. It’s like a thirty minute drive from one end to the other. Maybe not, but that’s what it felt like. The bridge is called the Confederation Bridge. It was opened in May 31, 1997. It is the longest bridge in Canada, and also the longest bridge in the world over ice-covered water.

Here’s the website to check on the condition of the bridge, you can see if the bridge is open or closed https://www.confederationbridge.com/ You might need to check it if you are planning to go because when it’s too windy or it’s not safe, they will close the bridge. Anyway, once you are halfway across the bridge you can see the red cliffs on the island coastline of PEI. That’s what Charlotte likes to see when on the bridge.

PEI is a summer destination for a lot of Canadians. PEI is home to world class golf courses, cultural and historic venues, exceptional cuisine, outdoor activities, a fictional girl named Anne, and exquisite beaches with breathtaking scenery. That pretty much says a lot, to know more about PEI here’s the link: https://www.tourismpei.com/ The novel Anne of Green Gables is popular around the world. Canadians love her and the Japanese do too! You should add it your reading list. Anne of Green Gables: The musical is Canada’s longest-running musical since 1965. In 2014 Guinness World Records officially recognized it as the longest running annual musical theater production in the world. I still need to see it, but due to the pandemic it is not running this year.

When we get to the island, we had lunch at Victoria-by-the-Sea. It’s a quaint little town. We walked around to take a picture of the lighthouse and the red sand beach. Then we went to our hotel the Rodd Crowbush Resort. The hotel had a huge golf course, it looked fun to go golfing, but I’m not really into golf. Our hotel room was especially nice. It has a balcony where we watched the sunset over those tiny golf course hills. After we had dinner, we took a walk to the beach. The hotel can also set up a bonfire and roast marshmallows upon request. We chose to swim at the pool instead. They also have hot tub and sauna, but it was close due to Covid19. At night me and Charlotte stayed up LATE. We were watching some random show until eleven o’clock. It was fun! (we also had plenty of snacks too).

Next day we went to Thunder Cove Beach. There’s so much to say about the beaches in PEI so I will write about it on another post. We had lunch at Avonlea Village. It’s a recreation of the novel Anne Of Green Gables’ setting. There’s the original church that Lucy Maud Montgomery attended. There’s also the actual school building where Lucy used to teach. “WHO is Lucy?” you might ask. Lucy is the author of Anne Of Green Gables. The village is pretty cool to visit and walk around, there’s restaurants and souvenir shops. The church is converted to a restaurant and the school is now a store.

We also visited the Sandspit Amusement Park in Cavendish. It is more like a permanent carnival than an amusement park. I would recommend going if you have the chance. I think that was the highlight of the trip. Sandspit was super fun! BE WARNED: The roller coaster does a number on the neck. Be careful because I’m sure you don’t want to spend the rest of your visit with a sore neck! Anyway, me and Charlotte had a blast going on the Tilt-a-Whirl and bumper cars again, and again, and again! We also tried the mini-golf, but I sucked! I suppose Cavendish is kind of like a mini Orlando, Florida, but on a smaller scale.

It was hard to get up the next morning, Charlotte and I were tired from going to the beach and spending the afternoon until nighttime in Sandspit. We managed to swim again at the pool before we head back home. Oh yes, souvenirs! I did get a souvenir, I saw it in the PEI welcome booklet. It is a PEI lifeguard hoodie, because you know, I want to be a lifeguard. I actually wore it to the pool once, and the lifeguards thought I stole one of their hoodies!

Traveling with friends is fun. I’m an only child so I’m thankful that my parents let me bring a friend on our travels! When travel is safe, I hope you consider to visit Prince Edward Island, Canada. You won’t regret it!

Hotel stay is complimentary from Rodd Resort Crowbush.

  1. Great post! There up sides and downsides of traveling with other couples. Usually by time we get home we’re ready to be alone, and away from them even though they are our best friends. Two different couples with some similarities, and lots of differences, all coming together for a trip that was planned. It makes for great pictures, and lots of fond memories. So I could take it or leave it. If that even makes sense. Lol.

    1. I understand what you mean, sometimes waiting for somebody to get ready can be annoying also.

  2. This looks like it was such a fun trip! I’m glad you guys got to enjoy going, and I really appreciated this informative post. 😀 <3

  3. I love PEI. I visited when the Confederation bridge was only a couple of years old. I was at a conference in Nova Scotia, and my memory was that the bridge runs from NS to PEI, guess I was wrong! Great pictures of this very pretty province. Maggie

  4. Sounds like a lot of fun! Growing up, I loved it when my folks would let me bring a friend or when other families we knew traveled to the same place when we did, so I had a friend to play with there. But even as a kid, I often did things alone and as an adult I’ve often traveled alone.

It’s great you started your blog as a 12 year old. Wow!
