Cheese and Chocolate Buffet in Singapore

Hey everyone! I would like to take a break from posting about my Coast to Coast Canada Adventure, and instead I’ll post about one of my international trips! This is about Singapore! And yes, there is a cheese and chocolate buffet involved, so keep reading!

From our house in Florida, we flew to Phuket, Thailand in March 2014, and stayed there for six weeks. If you want to read my post you can click the link below to read it!

While we were in Thailand, my dad decided to visit Singapore. So here we go. Singapore has one of the most beautiful airports I’ve ever seen. There are so many flowers and orchids in the airport and pond with koi in it. (Koi’s a type of fish if you don’t know)

We stayed at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, for three nights and there’s an awesome rooftop infinity pool! Maybe you’ve seen it on the movie Crazy Rich Asians? The Marina Bay Sands is shaped like one giant letter M, and has a cool roof that looks a bit like a boat!

Below is the Marina Bay Sands’ infinity pool! Its like the best pool EVER, because there’s a beautiful view of the city, and lots of lounge chairs. And in some areas it’s very deep. It looks scary at first because it feels like your going to fall off the edge. I was only six years old, almost seven when we went to Singapore. I was still tiny, and my dad was *cough* *cough* threatening me *cough* *cough* that he would throw me off the edge of the pool! He is SUCH a trickster! We also had a big room, and as you can see the soaker tub is very large in the bathroom.

After a great day of swimming at the pool, we had dinner at one of the restaurants located on the 55th floor. One of the restaurants was super fancy that we need to wear formal clothes, but we didn’t bring any with us. We only brought shorts and t-shirts with us, and we bought comfortable sandals in Thailand. Like my sandals in my β€œtub” picture. Anyway, we checked out another restaurant, The Chocolate Bar. The restaurant had a CHOCOLATE AND CHEESE BUFFET! (He he, Belt the baby sloth from The Croods is one of my favourite animals!)

My dad said, β€œ What could go wrong with cheese and chocolate.” When we entered the restaurant our jaws dropped! There was so many different desserts and the table was decorated with many glass tubes of white, brown, and dark chocolate candy melts. They had all kinds of cheeses that my dad tried, and I think I did too! This buffet was awesome BECAUSE they had macarons! If you know me, you know how much I LOVE macarons! As you can see on my picture, my first plate had six macarons.

Honestly, you have to come hungry when you eat at any buffet especially a cheese and chocolate buffet. We didn’t last long, we ate with our eyes not our stomachs. You can’t eat too much cheese and chocolate. πŸ˜‚ There were so many sweet chocolate dessert. Cake pops, little cakes, truffles, M & M chocolates, more fancy deserts, chocolate pudding, large strawberrys dipped in chocolate, there was even chocolate fondue! You could dip some fruit in it like watermelon, pineapple, and strawberries! Mmmmm!

Besides staying at the Sands (which was probably the highlight of this trip), we also did some sightseeing. On the first day we arrived, we toured the city. We went to see the Merlion fountain, (a cross between a mermaid and a lion) it’s one of Singapore’s most famous landmarks. The Merlion is one of Singapore’s symbols because the mermaid/fish part is there to honour Singapore’s roots as a fishing village. The Lion part is because in the Malay language, Singapura means β€œlion city”. It was built in April 25, 2002.

In Singapore, there are so many restaurants and shops. I think Singaporeans love to shop and eat! I love those too! After sightseeing, my dad took us to get an ice cream sandwich. But this is not the same ice cream sandwich you can get in the store. This was sold on the street, and the ice cream was cut from a block of ice cream then placed in a coloured piece of DELICIOUS bread. The bread was just a little bit bigger to hold the ice cream. It was delicious, and it cooled me off from the hot weather in Singapore.

We also paid a visit to Gardens By the Bay. They are these massive trees made out of metal with tropical plants growing on them, and they light up at night! We had a really great view of them from our hotel!

And if I didn’t have enough sweets at the buffet, more food I like in Singapore are the donuts from J.Co Donuts. They are super delicious colorful donuts that are dipped in Belgium chocolate. The donuts are soft and fluffy melt in your mouth! MMMMMMMMM YUMMMIE! Writing about this post makes me want to go back to Singapore as soon as possible. We had donuts for breakfast every day on this trip. I think my parents and I gained a bit of weight on this trip…

On the last day of our day in Singapore we went to

SANRIO HELLO KITTY TOWN in Malaysia.

Yes, there is such a thing as Hello Kitty Town. We took the bus to cross the border to Malaysia. It’s only an hour drive from Singapore to Iskandar Puteri. As I mentioned earlier, I was only six years old so I loved Hello Kitty so much! I STILL like to visit the Hello Kitty Store in Universal Studios Orlando when I’m there!

If you’re wondering what it’s like in Hello Kitty Land, brace yourself for all things PINK, and very colorful, with big red bows, and cute kitties. It’s kind of like a mini amusement park, sorta, there are craft stations where you can make cookies and charm bracelets. There are rides like those twirling tea cups as well as a gift shop and Hello Kitty’s house. You can get some pictures with Hello Kitty and all her friends, as well as eat at the Red Bow Cafe. It’s a really fun place to visit, but it closed in December 31, 2019 due to lack of attendance. I had such a great time. The highlight was a dance performance by Hello Kitty and her friends. Of course I didn’t leave the place without a picture with Hello Kitty! My dad had an amazing time too! Haha, KIDDING! Cute kitties, pink, bows, and dad don’t exactly match… BUT, he took me there and spent the whole day at Hello Kitty Land because he loves me! ❀️ Thanks Daddy! 😘

Well, that’s about it everyone! If any of you ever visit Singapore, I recommend going to the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, and swimming at the roof top pool. You don’t have to be a hotel guest to eat at the restaurants at The Sands in case you just want to try the cheese and chocolate buffet! I hope I did a good job showing you a little bit of Singapore!

Would you try cheese and chocolate buffet? Do you love Hello Kitty? If you’ve been to Singapore, let me know your experience.

  2. I’ve been to Singapore many times and recognize nearly all the locations in your shots. I have been to the top of the Marina Sands but only to the viewing part that’s open to the public (for a fee). I’m afraid staying there was a bit outside my budget! I haven’t been there since 2014. I used to travel to Australia & New Zealand a lot and often stopped over there for a few days en-route. My last trip to Oz in 2016 was via Guangzhou (it was so much cheaper but I really missed the Singapore stopover!). Now that I’ve retired I doubt that I will ever go to Australia or NZ again though I do hope to make at least one more trip to Singapore & Penang in the not too distant future. I remember walking around the Gardens by the Bay not long after they first opened – it was quite late at night and only some of the tree lights were on so I guess they hadn’t finished connecting everything up at that time. If I go there again, I will be sure to check out the cheese & chocolate buffet!

    1. Awesome!I hope you get to Singapore again and try the cheese and chocolate buffet!🀍 Thanks for reading my post, and I love to visit NZ and
      Australia someday!

  3. Exactly, what could go wrong with a cheese and chocolate buffet!? Sounds delicious. I have yet to visit Singapore, but I would love to someday. It looks beautiful. P.S. macaroons are one of my favourite desserts too.
