Christmas 2020

Are you ready to welcome the New Year!? Before going on, I have one more Christmas post. What was your Christmas like? I had a great Christmas with my mom and dad as usual, and I got lots of presents from them. I wrote this post for myself so in the future I can go back and read it again. Even though we are in our temporary home in British Columbia, we bought Christmas decorations to have a bit of a Christmas vibe at the condo we are staying. We plan to donate them afterwards at the second hand store.

On December 24th, me and my parents went for a walk in the morning on one of the many trails around here in the Okanagan. Then we went back home to prepare for our Christmas Eve dinner. We had ribs that my dad bought at the local butcher shop. There are so many vineyards around here, and there are so many different types of wine you can buy, but my parents doesn’t drink alcohol beverage. So as a treat, we had a sparkling fruit beverage instead, and we had a Black Forest cake for our dessert.

After dinner, we roasted marshmallows at the resort’s fire cauldron then went for a night swim as we usually do every night. Then, late at night before I went to bed, my dad let me open one of my Christmas presents! It was a “trick lock,” it took me forever to get open. I was mad at him because I couldn’t open it! (well, not real mad, but you know what I mean).

Also on Christmas Eve, I had an evil master plan… we got birthday horns for my Uncle Rob’s birthday, and I was soooo planning to use those to wake up my parents… but I didn’t because my dad woke up before I did. Sad. Anyway, we got out our Christmas cards for each other, and I gave my parents a card I drew myself. Then we had breakfast and looked in our stockings, I found LOTS of goodies in my stocking!

In my stocking, I got candies, chocolates, conditioner, (yes, you read that right I got conditioner for Christmas. Swimming a lot makes my hair hard to brush), hot chocolate, five dollars, glitter, deodorant, and a $25 McDonald’s gift card!

THEN THE REAL PRESENTS! But first, I read the Christmas story from the book of Luke. THEN we opened our presents! I got books! Specifically Percy Jackson, and MORE Dear Canada books! Bea, from The Beahive has an Etsy Shop, and she made me an Astrid doll that my mom bought for me! It’s so AWESOME! I love it so much!I For those of you who don’t know, Astrid is a character from the movie How To Train Your Dragon. I also got a back pack from Fjallraven, and I also got a new bathing suit and goggles! (Those will NOT go unused!)

I got wool socks from LL Bean because my dad plans to take us on winter outdoor activities, and a pair of winter boots called Mukluks! It’s an Indigenous owned company from Manitoba (Canadian province). They are made out of leather, rabbit fur, and sheep skin! They are sooooo soft and warm, and they have little balls! I love them! My mom got a pair also, and we can’t walk side by side because our dangle-y balls get all tangled! We figured out later that we could tie the ribbon so it’s not dangling.

The picture below is what “Santa brought” (It’s actually a little gift from the resort) for us, and as you can see he brought a stocking full of yummy treats! For my parents gifts, I bought two boxes of Purdy’s chocolate. It is one of their favourite brand of chocolate. Oh by the way, I was able to figure out how to open the “trick lock” in the morning. If you’re interested to know how I was able to open it just comment below, and I will send you a private message.

After we opened our presents, we went for quick swim then we got ready for our Christmas dinner. The resort’s restaurant, The Bear, The Fish, The Root, & The Berry, is one of the best restaurant in the Okanagan. The food are prepared by an award winning chef. It is a modern vineyard cuisine inspired by indigenous roots. I had a kids flat iron steak, and it was cooked to perfection. It was very juicy and tender. My mom had halibut with chorizo sauce. She loved it a lot, and my dad had short ribs. He said it was ten out of ten for being so delicious! If you ever find yourself in the, make sure to visit this restaurant.

Remember I told you that Canadians spend Boxing Day shopping? Well, my mom has been looking to buy me a coat. This one that I’m wearing was on sale for a fraction of the original price. It was a reasonable price. My dad had some money left-over on the gift card that he had so they bought it for me! They are the sweetest! The coat matches perfectly with my Mukluks boots! And there was my Christmas Day celebration!

What are your goals for 2021?
