Healing Hugs and More

Hello my lovely readers and blogging friends all over the world! You probably know that I’m doing a Coast to Coast Canada Adventure raising money for Food Banks Canada! In this post I want to share with you some of the charities that me and family are supporting. This post was created with the help of my parents. In case you and your family are looking for a charity/organization to support, maybe this post will give you an idea.

Healing Hugs

This charity helps the children to pay for their medical care that will prevent life-long disabilities, cure impairment, lovingly assist kids with permanent disabilities, and give children the support, assistance, and self-confidence to know they’re valued, beautiful, and smart. And when that child is healed, you’ll help another child. And another.

82% of your donation will go to your child’s healing treatment plan, and when you commit to give, the charity will give you the information of the child you are helping and a teddy bear to hug 🧸 We currently have five children we’re helping, and they are all in Africa.

❤️

Seeds of Hope

This charity provides on going and consistent support to orphaned children. With your generous support they are able to provide excellent medical care and antiretroviral therapy (ARV’s) for all HIV positive children their care in Africa and Asia. Their goal is to not only save the lives of children by caring for them but also to give them and their communities sustainable hope through the programs they provide.

93% of your donation will go directly toward distributing food, education, housing, and other programming to children in need. We are are currently sponsoring five children. They are triplets from Zambia, and they are the same age as me. We are also sponsoring two from Thailand. We received pictures of our sponsor children that we put on the fridge so we can see them everyday and pray for them everyday. I also wrote a letter to each one of them, and when traveling is not restricted we plan to visit them!

Inter-Varsity and CRU

Both of these organizations are similar. They have missionaries in campuses to minister to college students. In 2017 according, to NE News Now, approximately 70 percent of Christian teens entering college walking away from their faith, college ministries are tackling the attrition rate head-on at secular campuses across America. My parents believe that it is important for a believer to have an organization to belong so they don’t feel alone especially in freshman year. My parents want to make sure that when I go to college I have a group to go to. We are currently sponsoring one missionary family in Orlando and two college students in New Brunswick, Canada. Please click on the names of the charities to learn more about the other things they do in the community!

Filter of Hope

This organization’s motto is, “No one should have to live without clean drinking water.” They provide water filters to less developed countries. In January 2020, my father went to Cuba to install water filters in family’s home so they could have safe clean drinking water. It was a life changing experience for my dad.

Camping Sticks Kids

Camping Stick Kids exist to equip young men and women to know the gospel message and to go and share it with others. We partner with like minded ministries so that the world is reached and lives are changed.

World Embrace

There are over 150,000 under the age of 15 in Gulu, Uganda and no safe public spaces for them to play. Children and youth spend time in places they shouldn’t and end up in trouble. Gulu needs a place for kids to be kids! World Embrace is partnering with local leaders to build a community park in Gulu. The community park will be a place where everyone can come together, build relationships and make memories. Children’s playgrounds, sports fields, performance stages, restaurants and more will cover the 10+ acres!

This organization is run by a family friend! We were supposed to visit them last year, but the global pandemic happened. ☹️ Hopefully, we can visit them soon though!

If you want to know the percentage of every dollar goes to the cause, or how efficient, or how transparent the charity is, click Charity Navigator for charities in USA to find out, and Give Confidently for Canada. When we give we also have to be smart givers 😉

I hope this post inspires you to help others. If you want to check these charities, just click on the names and it will lead you the websites. 🙃

  1. A very well written piece as usual. You are doing a great job. It’s such a great shame that in 2021 we have to have food banks at all in so-called civilized and wealthy countries like Canada & the UK, but sadly the pandemic means that so many more people now rely on them for their very survival. There always have been and always will be poor and needy people, that rely on the charity of individuals and organization like the Salvation Army, but their numbers and needs have never been as great as they are now. I don’t ever remember there being such things as food banks when I was your age, so we don’t seem to have progressed very far in the last 50 years or so. It was a growing growing concern even before the pandemic and even when things eventually return to ‘normal’ I don’t see the food bank getting better any time soon. Keep up the good work.

      1. Hi Ariela! You have a wonderful and very positive blog! I’m following you back . Nice to meet you. Have a good day!

  2. That’s a great number of charities! Whenever I went to my favourite patisserie last month, I got a hot chocolate because of the YYC Hot Chocolate Fest. It’s a fundraiser for Meals on Wheels and it was absolutely wonderful! I must have got 2 or 3 hot chocolates every week! Happy to do it for a good cause 😊

  3. Happy to connect with you. Making so many faces smile is a big achievement. I hope god bless you to help the more people. My best wishes to you and your team.❤🌄

  4. That is so awesome what you are doing to help raise money and funds for the Canada Foodbanks! These all seem like great organizations!
